Wilmington, Ohio – Drivers across Ohio could see brief slowdowns during the Friday evening commute as scattered showers and thunderstorms move through before a sharp warm-up pushes temperatures into the 80s by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a weak cold front will pass late Friday into Saturday, bringing scattered rain and a few thunderstorms. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated stronger storms could develop, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours.

The bigger story is the rapid temperature climb. Highs across central and southern Ohio, including Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati, will reach the upper 70s Friday before dipping slightly Saturday. By Sunday, many areas surge into the low 80s, with cities like Dayton and Wilmington near 82–83°F.

Northern cities such as Celina and Bellefontaine will also see a jump, climbing from the 60s late week to near 80°F by Sunday. Overnight lows will steadily rise as well, moving from the 40s into the 50s by the end of the weekend.

Drivers should remain alert for brief downpours and reduced visibility Friday, especially on I-70 and I-75 corridors. Keep devices charged and monitor alerts if traveling during peak storm timing.

The warming trend continues into early next week, with additional updates expected as conditions evolve.
