Martinsburg, West Virginia – Residents in Berkeley County will have a four-hour window to safely dispose of unused or expired medications, helping reduce the risk of misuse and accidental exposure in homes across the region.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the sheriff’s office parking lot on South Raleigh Street in Martinsburg. The event is part of a nationwide effort to remove potentially dangerous medications from circulation.

Officials say the program allows residents to anonymously drop off prescription drugs, no questions asked, providing a safe alternative to flushing medications or throwing them in the trash.

The initiative targets growing concerns around prescription drug misuse and environmental contamination. Communities across the Eastern Panhandle are encouraged to participate, especially households with unused pain medications or expired prescriptions.

The event will be held rain or shine, and additional collection opportunities may be announced later in the year as part of ongoing drug prevention efforts.
