South Bend, Indiana – Rain moves into northern Indiana within hours, with wet roads likely developing after 4 a.m. Thursday and continuing into the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, dry and partly cloudy conditions early Wednesday will give way to increasing rain chances overnight, especially across northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan. Rain probabilities climb to 30–50% late tonight, then increase to 40–70% Thursday night into Friday.

Cities including South Bend, Elkhart, Valparaiso, and Fort Wayne will see scattered showers develop Thursday, with isolated thunderstorms possible by the afternoon and evening. Rain becomes more widespread Friday, with a 70% chance of showers gradually tapering from northwest to southeast later in the day.

Drivers along I-80/90 and U.S. 31 should expect wet pavement and reduced visibility during peak commute hours Thursday morning and again Friday. While rainfall totals are expected to remain light, brief heavier showers could still slow travel.

Temperatures stay mild, with highs reaching 60 to 72 degrees Thursday before cooling slightly into the 50s and 60s Friday.

Showers begin to wind down late Friday, but additional updates may follow as the next system approaches.
