Paducah, Kentucky – Temperatures are climbing quickly across western Kentucky today, with a steady warm-up pushing highs toward the 80-degree mark by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, highs will reach the low to mid-70s Wednesday before climbing into the upper 70s Thursday under mostly dry conditions. Cities including Paducah, Murray, and Mayfield will see consistent warming through the end of the workweek.
The next weather concern arrives Friday, when thunderstorms develop primarily north and west of the Ohio River. Areas closer to southern Illinois and southeast Missouri face the greatest chance for storms, though some activity could edge into western Kentucky during the afternoon and evening hours.
While widespread severe weather is not currently expected, brief downpours and lightning could impact travel along I-24 and I-69 late Friday.
The warmest air arrives this weekend, with highs reaching 81 to 84 degrees by Sunday under partly sunny skies, marking the warmest stretch so far this season.
Residents should monitor conditions Friday for any storm development, but otherwise expect a prolonged period of mild, springlike weather through the weekend.
