Washington, D.C. – Temperatures will drop back toward freezing again tonight across the D.C. region, posing a risk to early spring plants before a rapid warm-up takes hold by the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, overnight lows will fall between 28 and 35 degrees late tonight into early Thursday morning, creating conditions favorable for frost and potential freeze impacts across parts of Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District.

Daytime conditions remain cool Wednesday, with highs ranging from the low 40s to upper 50s under sunny skies. Cities including Washington, Baltimore, and Arlington will see dry conditions, but the chill will linger through the afternoon.

A significant warming trend begins Thursday, with highs climbing into the mid-50s to near 70 degrees. By Friday afternoon, temperatures surge further into the mid-60s to upper 70s across the region, marking a dramatic turnaround in just 48 hours.

Residents should protect sensitive plants tonight and prepare for cold early morning conditions before enjoying a stretch of milder, dry weather heading into the weekend.

Dry conditions are expected to continue through Friday, with additional updates possible as temperatures trend well above normal.
