Caribou, Maine – A sharp temperature swing is underway across Maine, with chilly air today quickly giving way to a much milder pattern by Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, highs Wednesday will remain 5 to 10 degrees below normal, with temperatures stuck in the middle 30s to lower 40s across much of the state. Conditions remain dry, but the cool air will be noticeable, especially across northern and eastern Maine.

By Thursday, temperatures rebound into the 40s to near 50 degrees statewide, with inland cities like Bangor and Millinocket warming more efficiently than coastal areas such as Bar Harbor.

The warm-up peaks Friday, when highs climb 5 to 10 degrees above normal, reaching the mid-40s to near 60 degrees across central Maine. This marks the warmest day of the week before the next system arrives.

Light rain develops Friday night as a cold front moves through, with rainfall totals between 0.10 and 0.20 inches expected. Roads may become wet late in the evening, especially along I-95 and Route 1.

Dry weather holds through Friday daytime hours, but residents should prepare for changing conditions heading into Friday night as additional updates are expected.
