Washington, DC – Calls to impeach the administration intensified Tuesday night after President Donald Trump’s “civilization-ending” threats preceded a conditional ceasefire that the Iranian government is now broadcasting as a total American capitulation.
The diplomatic whiplash began minutes before a 8 p.m. ET military deadline, when Pakistan announced a ceasefire “effective immediately.” However, the peace was punctuated by multiple waves of Iranian missiles targeting Jerusalem. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), sirens and “loud booms” rocked the city three separate times on Tuesday night, even as the Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSCI) claimed the war had ended in a “historic failure” for the United States and its allies.
According to the SNSCI statement released late Tuesday, the regime in Tehran is portraying the outcome as a massive victory. Having survived a 30-plus day existential war that began with the high-profile killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior IRGC generals, the Iranian government allegedly claims it has reached “almost all of its objectives.”
According to reports from state media on Tuesday, the ceasefire terms allegedly include a U.S. guarantee to cease “aggression,” the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, and the total withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region. Critics in Washington have labeled these purported concessions—and the President’s “demented” social media rhetoric that preceded them—as a clear and present danger to national security.
The chaos has triggered a wave of “impeach them all” rhetoric across social media and among opposition lawmakers. According to various political commentators on Tuesday, the President’s earlier post stating a “civilization will die” is being cited as evidence of a “psychotic” and “unstable” leadership that allegedly invited a missile barrage on a key ally while handed a strategic victory to a crippled regime.
