Atlantic City, New Jersey – Temperatures across southern New Jersey are set to plunge below freezing overnight, putting early spring vegetation and outdoor plumbing at risk through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Freeze Warning remains in effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Wednesday for much of central and southern New Jersey, including Camden, Gloucester, Burlington, Atlantic, Cumberland, and Cape May counties . Overnight lows are expected to drop between 25 and 30 degrees, cold enough to damage crops, flowering plants, and sensitive landscaping.

Communities including Cherry Hill, Mount Holly, Hammonton, Glassboro, and Millville will experience the coldest early morning temperatures before sunrise Wednesday. Coastal areas such as Atlantic City, Ocean City, and Cape May could still dip near the freezing mark despite the moderating influence of the ocean.

Gardeners and homeowners should cover delicate plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and disconnect or insulate outdoor hoses to prevent pipe damage. Early commuters may also encounter frost on vehicles and colder-than-usual morning conditions.

Another round of cold is possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a Freeze Watch remains in place across much of the region. Officials say additional advisories may be issued if temperatures trend colder.
