Nashville, Tennessee – A deadly crash on Whites Creek Pike is prompting a criminal investigation after a driver was killed in a high-impact collision during the Monday afternoon commute.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Whites Creek Pike at Free Silver Road, where traffic had been reduced to a single lane due to active road construction. Investigators say vehicles were stopped by a flagging crew when a southbound driver failed to slow down.
Police say a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu struck a stopped Toyota Corolla from behind at a high rate of speed, forcing it into a box truck and then into a utility pole. The Corolla’s driver, a 47-year-old woman from Goodlettsville, died at the scene.
The driver of the Malibu was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The box truck driver was not hurt, though a passenger sustained minor injuries.
Authorities say reckless driving appears to be the primary contributing factor, and charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Drivers are urged to use caution in construction zones, reduce speed, and remain alert for stopped traffic, especially during peak travel hours. Additional updates are expected as charges are finalized.
