New Bedford, MA – A large cache of illegal drugs and firearms was seized in New Bedford following a coordinated raid that has left one man facing multiple serious charges.
According to Massachusetts State Police and the New Bedford Police Department, detectives executed search warrants Thursday at a residence and associated garage tied to a narcotics investigation involving 36-year-old Steven Ellis. Authorities say the operation uncovered a significant amount of drugs, weapons, and distribution materials.
Investigators reported finding 96 Suboxone film strips and packaging materials inside the home, along with three firearms. Ellis is not licensed to carry in Massachusetts, and officials said the weapons were seized while a related firearm license tied to another individual was suspended.
In a separate garage search, police located additional weapons, including a rifle, multiple shotguns, a Polymer80 ghost gun, and a .22 caliber pistol with a defaced serial number. Detectives also recovered 16.9 grams of cocaine, 55 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, ammunition, and two large-capacity magazines.
Ellis now faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute, illegal firearm possession, and possession of an untraceable weapon.
Authorities say the investigation highlights ongoing efforts to remove illegal drugs and weapons from the community. Additional updates may follow as the case moves through court proceedings.
