Amarillo, TX – Spotty light rain could briefly impact parts of the Texas Panhandle late Tuesday, but most areas will stay dry with little to no measurable rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, light showers are expected to develop west of the Panhandle and move east between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Rain chances remain low at just 10 to 20 percent, and the probability of receiving more than 0.10 inches of rain is less than 10 percent.

Areas near Dalhart, Hereford, and Vega have the best chance to see brief showers during the late afternoon hours, while Amarillo, Pampa, and Canadian may only see isolated sprinkles or no rain at all. Any activity that does develop is expected to weaken as it moves east into the evening.

While widespread storms are not expected, forecasters note that isolated lightning cannot be ruled out, which could pose a brief risk to outdoor activities.

Residents should not rely on rainfall for drought relief and should remain cautious with outdoor plans during the late afternoon and evening. Conditions clear overnight, and additional updates will follow if rain chances increase later this week.
