St. Louis, MO – Drivers across Missouri and western Illinois will see improving road conditions this morning as light rain and snow exit, but a sharp north-to-south temperature divide will shape the rest of Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, precipitation will end by mid-morning across northeastern Missouri and west-central Illinois, with lingering cloud cover keeping temperatures significantly cooler in northern areas. Highs may struggle to reach 44 to 49 degrees near Quincy and Edina, while areas farther south warm much more efficiently.

In the St. Louis metro, temperatures will climb to around 55 degrees this afternoon, with gradual clearing expected. Along the I-70 corridor, cities like Columbia and Jefferson City will reach the upper 50s, while farther south along I-44 and into the Ozarks, highs push into the low to mid-60s.

Communities near Farmington, Cape Girardeau, and Rolla could see the warmest readings near 61 to 65 degrees as sunshine returns more quickly. Meanwhile, cooler air and cloud cover will linger longer across northern counties, creating a noticeable contrast across the state.

Residents should prepare for variable conditions depending on location, with cooler jackets needed north and lighter layers sufficient farther south. Additional updates may follow as skies continue to clear into the evening.
