Albany, NY – Drivers across eastern New York could encounter slick spots within minutes this morning as snow showers continue moving through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, scattered snow showers will persist through the morning hours, with most accumulation staying on non-paved surfaces. However, temperatures hovering near or just below 32°F may allow icy patches to develop on bridges, overpasses, and higher terrain.
Areas including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and the Hudson Valley could see brief bursts of snow reducing visibility and coating roadways, especially along I-87, I-90, and Route 7. While overall snowfall remains light, even minor accumulation can create hazardous travel during peak commute times.
Conditions begin to improve by early afternoon as drier air moves in and snow showers taper off. High temperatures will range from the lower 30s to mid-40s, accompanied by breezy winds that may keep a chill in the air.
Drivers should slow down and remain alert for changing conditions through late morning. Additional advisories could be issued if temperatures remain near freezing longer than expected.
