Pittsburgh, PA – Residents across western Pennsylvania face a sharp temperature drop overnight, with readings falling below freezing by early Wednesday morning before a rapid warmup begins within hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, temperatures will dip into the upper 20s to near 30°F by 6 to 8 a.m. Wednesday across much of the region, including Pittsburgh, Washington, and Butler. The coldest pockets could briefly impact bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads, especially in outlying areas.

By late morning, temperatures rebound quickly, climbing into the 50s and continuing upward through the afternoon. Cities across the Ohio Valley, including Wheeling and Morgantown, will follow a similar trend, marking the start of a steady warming pattern that pushes highs into the 70s by Thursday and into the weekend.

Travel impacts remain minimal, but early commuters should watch for isolated slick spots and allow extra time during the morning drive. Residents are also urged to protect sensitive plants and check outdoor plumbing as temperatures dip below freezing.

A weak cold front arrives late Friday into Saturday, bringing the next chance of rain and a slight dip in temperatures before mild conditions return.
