Gaylord, MI – Drivers across northern Michigan may encounter slick spots early this morning as light snow tapers off, but another round of mixed precipitation is already lining up for midweek travel.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, lingering snow showers will fade by around sunrise, with cloud cover hanging on through the morning before partial clearing develops this afternoon. High temperatures will stay cool, ranging from 30°F to 39°F across the eastern Upper Peninsula and low to mid-30s in northern Lower Michigan.
Roads including I-75, US-131, and M-32 may remain damp or briefly slick early, especially on untreated surfaces. Conditions improve by afternoon as sunshine returns and temperatures stabilize.
Attention then shifts to early Wednesday, when light snow redevelops before transitioning to rain by midday as temperatures climb into the upper 40s to low 50s in northern Lower Michigan. Cities like Traverse City, Petoskey, and Alpena will see wet roads through the afternoon and into Thursday morning as showers linger.
Drivers should remain alert for changing road conditions, especially during the Wednesday morning commute. Warmer air will help limit impacts, but additional updates may follow as precipitation returns midweek.
