Pickens County, SC Shooting: Man Charged With Murder

Pickens, SC – A man has been charged with murder after another man was fatally shot Friday night on Big Foot Road in Pickens, according to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, its communication center received a 911 call at approximately 5:38 p.m. Friday concerning an adult man who had been shot at 109 Big Foot Road. Authorities said information from the emergency call indicated the caller was allegedly involved in the incident.

When deputies arrived, they found an adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, according to the sheriff’s office. First responders performed lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives responded and began investigating the shooting. Authorities said a suspect was identified and later located before being taken to the C. David Stone Law Enforcement Center for questioning.

The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as Soshinque Barney White, born April 10, 1993. White allegedly knew the victim, according to investigators.

White has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, the sheriff’s office said. He was being held without bond at the Pickens County Detention Center.

The charges are allegations. White is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

The Pickens County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene. Authorities said the identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office at an appropriate time.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional information about what allegedly led to the incident.
