Baltimore County, MD – Two men have been charged with first-degree murder and armed carjacking following a July shooting near Downey Dale Drive and Church Lane, Baltimore County police announced Sunday.
According to the Baltimore County Police Department, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit charged 19-year-old Cordell Jefferson and 20-year-old Garrin Davis following the July 20 incident. Police said both suspects face multiple charges, including first-degree murder and armed carjacking.
Jefferson and Davis are being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center, according to police. The charges are allegations, and both men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Police initially reported that the shooting happened at approximately 5:20 p.m. July 20 near Downey Dale Drive and Church Lane in the 21133 ZIP code.
According to the preliminary investigation, a victim was sitting inside his vehicle on Church Lane when two suspects allegedly approached and entered the vehicle. Police said the suspects allegedly attempted to pull the victim from the vehicle.
During a struggle with one of the suspects, the victim was shot, authorities said. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with what police initially described as an apparently non-life-threatening injury.
Police did not explain in Sunday’s update why the suspects now face first-degree murder charges or provide an update on the victim’s condition. No additional details about the circumstances surrounding the murder charges were immediately provided.
The investigation remains ongoing.
