Philadelphia, Pa. – Gusty northwest winds up to 30 mph will push temperatures down quickly after sunset, setting up a freeze risk by 3 a.m. Wednesday across the Delaware Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Freeze Watch is in effect overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday for areas where the growing season has begun, including Philadelphia, Wilmington, Trenton, and much of South Jersey. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the 20s to low 30s, cold enough to damage sensitive plants and early crops.

Daytime conditions Tuesday remain cool but manageable, with highs near 53°F in Philadelphia, 51°F in Reading, and mid-50s along the Jersey Shore, including Atlantic City and Cape May. Winds from the northwest at 15 to 20 mph will make it feel colder, especially on exposed roadways like I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Clear skies Tuesday night will allow temperatures to drop तेजी, increasing the likelihood of widespread frost by daybreak. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and protect outdoor plumbing.

Cool weather lingers into Wednesday before a warming trend begins Thursday, with temperatures rebounding into the 60s. Additional advisories may be issued if colder conditions persist overnight.
