Lehigh Acres, FL – A Lee County man accused of seriously injuring his 4-month-old child is now facing an additional drug trafficking charge after detectives recovered more than 1,600 oxycodone pills, authorities announced.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, detectives arrested Chancelor Rolle on a charge of trafficking in oxycodone involving more than 7 grams after executing a residential search warrant.
Investigators said more than 1,600 oxycodone pills were recovered during the search. Detectives said evidence gathered during the investigation established probable cause for the trafficking charge.
The drug arrest came just days after Rolle was taken into custody Wednesday night on an aggravated child abuse charge stemming from a separate Special Victims Unit investigation.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators developed probable cause to allege Rolle violently shook his 4-month-old infant, causing serious injuries.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno said the agency believes the investigations demonstrate a threat both to a vulnerable child and the broader community. He said deputies would continue pursuing people accused of bringing drugs into Lee County or victimizing vulnerable residents.
The Sheriff’s Office said both its Special Victims Unit and narcotics investigations remain active. Authorities indicated that additional charges could be forthcoming.
Officials did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the residential search, the condition of the infant or how investigators allegedly connected Rolle to the oxycodone.
The allegations against Rolle have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
