St. Louis County, MO – A deadly wrong-way crash in north St. Louis County late Friday night left one woman dead and several others injured, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers from the North County Precinct responded around 10:44 p.m. Friday to a reported motor vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Lewis & Clark Boulevard near Highway 67. Upon arrival, officers located a black Kia Forte and a silver Mercury Grand Marquis involved in a head-on collision.

Preliminary findings indicate the Kia was allegedly traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck the Mercury head-on. The driver of the Mercury, a 23-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said three passengers inside the Mercury were also injured. A 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were transported to area hospitals in critical condition, while a 22-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Kia, described as an adult woman, was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
