Ohio/Pennsylvania – Cold rain is mixing with snow across Cleveland right now, and within hours, temperatures will drop enough to create slick roads and icy patches through the early Tuesday commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, temperatures are running below average, with highs only reaching the mid-40s to near 50°F today before falling sharply into the 20s overnight. Lingering rain and snow showers will continue across northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania through Tuesday morning.
Across Cleveland, Akron, and Erie, bursts of snow may briefly reduce visibility and coat roadways, especially before sunrise. While accumulation remains light, untreated surfaces—including bridges on I-90, I-71, and I-80—could turn icy as temperatures dip to between 17°F and 27°F.
This setup raises the risk for flash freezing, where wet pavement quickly ices over as colder air settles in. Plan extra time for travel, especially during early morning hours when conditions may deteriorate quickly.
By Tuesday afternoon, precipitation tapers off, but the chill lingers with highs only reaching the 30s to near 40°F. The pattern flips quickly midweek, with temperatures rebounding into the 50s Wednesday and climbing into the 60s by Thursday under partly sunny skies.
Another round of rain is possible by Friday, signaling a more active spring pattern ahead.
Stay alert for changing road conditions tonight into early Tuesday. Are you seeing snow mix in where you are right now?
