Washington – Sunshine is quickly warming Spokane this afternoon, but shifting winds and a sharp cooldown are set to change conditions within the next 24 hours.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb to near 73°F today under mostly sunny skies, with light winds increasing to 5 to 8 mph this afternoon. Calm conditions dominate for now, but a stronger system begins to influence the region by Tuesday.
Across Spokane, Spokane Valley, and along I-90, travel remains smooth today with dry roads and clear visibility. That changes by Tuesday afternoon as west winds increase to 13 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 23 mph. Drivers in open areas and on elevated roadways should prepare for sudden crosswinds.
Temperatures also take a noticeable dip Tuesday, with highs falling to around 57°F. By Tuesday night, skies clear and temperatures drop sharply to near 34°F, bringing a cold, brisk start Wednesday morning. While widespread frost is not certain, colder pockets could develop in outlying areas.
Midweek brings quieter weather, with sunny skies returning Wednesday and highs near 60°F. The warming trend continues into Thursday, with temperatures climbing to around 64°F under mostly clear skies.
Looking ahead, a slight chance of rain returns by the weekend, with increasing clouds and cooler highs settling back into the upper 50s.
