Minnesota’s North Shore is seeing flakes swirl across Duluth, where cold air and gusty winds are combining to reduce visibility and create slick spots on untreated roads early in the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, light snow and flurries will continue through the day, with total accumulation ranging from a half inch up to 4 inches, especially along the South Shore into Ashland and Iron counties. Winds may gust up to 30 mph, blowing snow across roadways and lowering visibility at times.

Across Duluth and nearby Superior, Wisconsin, drivers along I-35 and US-53 should watch for slushy patches and brief visibility drops, particularly near the lakefront and higher elevations. Temperatures hovering near 32°F mean even light snow can stick to colder surfaces, increasing the risk of slick travel.

Conditions shift slightly by Tuesday as skies begin to clear, but another system quickly follows. By Tuesday night into Wednesday, a mix of rain and snow develops, with precipitation chances climbing as high as 80% during the day Wednesday.

That midweek system may bring additional light accumulation and wet road conditions, especially during the morning commute window. Breezy conditions continue, adding to the chill and reducing comfort outdoors.
