Duluth, Minn. – Residents south of the Iron Range and across northwest Wisconsin should keep rain gear nearby Friday as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms move through the region. Most storms should remain limited, but brief downpours and lightning could disrupt outdoor work, travel and recreation before conditions improve for the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the greatest storm chances Friday will remain south of the Iron Range and extend into northwest Wisconsin. High temperatures will range from 73 to 80 degrees, while overnight lows fall into the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Duluth, Superior, Cloquet, Hinckley and communities near the Wisconsin border may see short periods of rain, while areas farther north remain drier. Anyone outdoors should move inside when thunder is heard and wait until storms pass before returning to lakes, trails or campsites.
Saturday and Sunday will bring partly to mostly sunny skies with lower humidity. Highs will generally stay in the middle 70s to lower 80s, offering a cooler break from the recent heat.
Warm, humid conditions return Monday ahead of another round of showers and thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday. Additional alerts may be issued if storms strengthen early next week.
