Chicago, Illinois – Gusty winds and a sharp chill are making for a brisk Sunday across the Chicago area, with wind chills hovering near 31°F early this morning and conditions staying unsettled into tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, west-northwest winds are reaching up to 25 mph Sunday, gradually easing later in the day as skies begin to clear. High temperatures will reach near 51°F, but the persistent breeze will keep it feeling cooler, especially along major routes like I-55 and I-290.

A 30% chance of showers develops late tonight, mainly before 2 a.m., as temperatures drop to around 39°F. The bigger shift arrives Monday night, when lows fall to 28°F, increasing the risk of frost across Cook County and nearby suburbs including Cicero, Berwyn, and Oak Park.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items today and prepare for colder overnight conditions by covering sensitive plants.

Conditions turn calmer and sunnier Tuesday before another round of breezy weather and scattered showers moves in by midweek, with temperatures rebounding into the 60s.
