Wisconsin I-43 Crash: Texas Driver Killed in Walworth County Collision

DELAVAN, Wis. – One person was killed following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 43 in Walworth County, and authorities say the investigation into the deadly collision remains ongoing.

According to the Town of Delavan Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, to a crash on Interstate 43 southbound near Mound Road in the Town of Delavan.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2019 Ford Fusion and a 2010 Dodge Caravan were both traveling southbound on I-43 when the vehicles collided. The impact caused the Dodge Caravan to leave the roadway before coming to rest at the bottom of an embankment near Mound Road.

Police said the driver of the Dodge Caravan, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, a resident of Delavan, Wisconsin, and a passenger from Elkhorn, Wisconsin, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol has been requested to conduct a full crash reconstruction to assist investigators. Officials said the cause of the collision has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains active.

The Town of Delavan Police Department thanked numerous agencies that responded to the scene, including local fire departments, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office, and other public safety partners.
