Seminole, FL – A Florida deputy was injured after a vehicle allegedly struck him while he was on the roadside in Seminole, prompting a major crash investigation.

According to investigators, the incident happened Thursday at approximately 9:45 p.m. along 104th Street near 106th Terrace. Authorities said 37-year-old Shaira Wester was allegedly driving northbound in a 2010 Ford Fusion when a vehicle in the opposite lane reportedly had its high beams activated, partially obstructing her view.

Investigators allege that Deputy Jason Anderson, 37, was standing near the edge of the roadway handling an unrelated call for service when he was struck by the front passenger side of Wester’s vehicle. The impact allegedly caused Anderson to be thrown to the ground.

Emergency crews transported Anderson to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. Officials said he sustained two skull fractures, a fractured wrist, and facial lacerations, but remains in stable condition.

Wester was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene, where she reportedly cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation. Officials said impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, and no charges have been filed at this time.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have not released additional details as the case remains active.

Officials are urging drivers to remain cautious, especially when approaching emergency personnel on roadways at night.
