New Lenox, IL – Residents in several New Lenox neighborhoods can expect to see fiber optic construction crews working near homes, sidewalks, and parkways as private utility providers continue expanding high-speed internet service throughout the community.
According to the Village of New Lenox, construction is currently taking place in the Clearwave-Chadwick Subdivision, Surf-Country Creek, and Pavlov-Hibernia & Windermere East Subdivisions.
Village officials emphasized that these are private utility projects and are not sponsored by the Village of New Lenox. However, state law requires the Village to issue permits for work taking place within the public right-of-way, and officials said all permit, inspection, and restoration requirements are being enforced.
The Village also reminded residents that homeowners must authorize any work performed on private property. Officials added that signing up for fiber internet service is completely optional, and residents are encouraged to speak directly with the provider working in their neighborhood if they have questions about installation.
