Darlington, South Carolina – Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered near a walking area in Darlington County, prompting a multi-agency response Friday.
According to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, individuals walking near the Pee Dee Land Trust property found the remains earlier in the day, leading deputies to secure and process the scene. Officials confirmed there is no immediate danger to the public as the investigation moves forward.
The Darlington County Coroner’s Office, Darlington Police Department, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Crime Scene Unit are all assisting in the case. Investigators have not released details about the identity of the remains or how long they may have been at the location.
