Birdseye, IN – Drivers in Dubois County should prepare for a long-term closure on State Road 145 beginning next week as the Indiana Department of Transportation resumes a delayed culvert replacement project.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, crews are expected to close State Road 145 on or around Wednesday, July 29, near Birdseye. The closure will stretch between County Road West 900 South and East Borden Hill Road.
The project was originally scheduled to begin in May but was temporarily reopened because of construction delays. The upcoming closure will allow crews to replace three box culverts, with work expected to continue through early November, weather permitting.
INDOT said the official detour will route motorists along Interstate 64, State Road 37, and State Road 64. Local traffic will continue to have access up to the point of closure, and one culvert will be replaced at a time to help residents maintain access during construction.
Officials are urging motorists to slow down, stay alert, and avoid distractions while traveling through or near the work zone.
Drivers who regularly use State Road 145 near Birdseye should plan for additional travel time and consider using the signed detour once the closure is in place.
INDOT will provide updates if the construction schedule changes due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
