Officers responded to reports of a large fight where at least one firearm was allegedly discharged, striking the teenage victim. First responders, alongside the Champaign Fire Department, administered emergency medical aid before the victim was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased at 11:44 p.m.
Investigators say a 15-year-old suspect was initially located and arrested following the shooting. On Thursday, a second 15-year-old was taken into custody on a warrant for aggravated battery with a firearm in connection to the same incident.
