Grand Forks, North Dakota – Snow-covered roads are already slowing travel across eastern North Dakota, and additional snowfall moving back in this afternoon could worsen conditions through the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, light snow will continue across much of eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota through tonight, with snowfall briefly redeveloping in west-central Minnesota during the afternoon hours. The system is expected to taper off from southwest to northeast late tonight.

Roads, especially along I-29, U.S. Highway 2, and rural routes near Fargo, Grand Forks, and into Minnesota, may remain slick as light snow accumulates primarily on grassy surfaces but still impacts untreated pavement. NDOT traffic cameras show reduced visibility and patchy snow coverage, particularly in open areas where winds can shift snow across roadways.

Areas from Devils Lake to Langdon may see lighter impacts, but travel conditions can change quickly as bands of snow redevelop. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and check road conditions through NDOT before heading out.

Snow is expected to end late Thursday night, with gradual improvements into early Friday, though lingering slick spots may persist into the morning hours.
