Miami County, OH – A traffic stop connected to an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation led to the seizure of approximately two ounces of methamphetamine in Piqua, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Dave Duchak, deputies and detectives acted on multiple tips from the public when they conducted the traffic stop on July 16, 2026, in the City of Piqua.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators searched the vehicle and recovered approximately two ounces of methamphetamine along with a digital scale, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office said the traffic stop was part of an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation. Officials did not release the identity of any suspects or announce any immediate criminal charges.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation remains active, and indictments are expected following consultation with the Miami County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Authorities have not released additional details about the investigation due to the pending legal review.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office credited tips from community members as a key factor in advancing the investigation and encouraged anyone with information about suspected drug activity to continue reporting it to law enforcement.
