Cleveland, Ohio – A refreshing break from midsummer heat continues across northern Ohio today, with temperatures running at least 10 degrees below normal as comfortable afternoons and cool nights settle over the region before a gradual warmup begins later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, widespread afternoon highs will remain in the upper 60s and lower 70s today and Thursday, while overnight lows fall into the 50s to around 60 degrees through Friday morning. Aside from a few scattered lake-effect rain showers across parts of northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania today, dry weather is expected across most of the region through Saturday.

Communities including Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Toledo, Sandusky, Youngstown, Mansfield and Findlay will enjoy several days of pleasant summer weather, making for favorable conditions for outdoor recreation, travel and construction projects. Sunshine and low humidity will dominate much of the period as temperatures slowly climb.

The warming trend begins Friday, with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s, followed by upper 70s to lower 80s Saturday. By Sunday, many communities are expected to return to the lower to middle 80s, accompanied by the next chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms as a more typical summer pattern returns.

Residents planning outdoor activities later this weekend should monitor updated forecasts for Sunday’s rain chances, but the remainder of the workweek is expected to feature quiet and comfortable weather across northern Ohio.
