Oklahoma – Wet pavement and shifting winds are already setting the stage for a messy afternoon across central Oklahoma, where storms are expected to build and disrupt travel within hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, showers and thunderstorms are likely through the day, with rain chances reaching 70% and south winds gusting up to 28–31 mph. Another round of storms is expected to redevelop into tonight and continue into early Friday, keeping conditions unsettled.

Across Oklahoma City, drivers along I-35, I-40, and the Kilpatrick Turnpike should expect reduced visibility during heavier downpours. Ponding water may develop quickly on low-lying roads. Winds could push vehicles slightly off line, especially on open stretches west of downtown. Keep headlights on and allow extra stopping distance.

Rain remains a key concern into Friday, with another 70% chance of showers and storms during the day and even higher coverage into Friday night. Some storms may produce brief heavy rainfall. For now, severe weather appears limited, but gusty winds and lightning will remain hazards.

Conditions begin to settle as the first weekend of April unfolds. Sunshine returns Saturday with highs near 65, followed by a mild and brighter Sunday near 69. Roads will dry out, offering a better window for outdoor plans.

Looking ahead, early next week trends warmer with sunshine and highs climbing into the low 70s. Spring is starting to take hold across Oklahoma.
