Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Spring warmth took hold early across the Mid-Atlantic, with March temperatures running up to 6 degrees above normal and snowfall nearly absent across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Philadelphia recorded an average temperature of 49.2°F for March, about 5.6 degrees above normal, while nearby cities like Reading and Wilmington saw similar departures nearing 5 to 6 degrees above average. Even cooler locations like Mount Pocono trended warmer than usual, continuing a region-wide pattern.

Rainfall told a split story. Northern areas such as Allentown picked up over 5.7 inches of precipitation—more than 2 inches above normal—while southern locations like Atlantic City and Georgetown fell short of typical March totals. This uneven distribution contributed to localized wet conditions in parts of eastern Pennsylvania.

Snowfall was notably lacking across the entire region. Most reporting stations, including Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington, recorded only trace amounts, far below normal seasonal averages that typically range from 3 to 6 inches.

The data highlights a warmer, less wintry transition into spring across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Additional climate summaries are expected as April conditions continue to evolve.
