Round Lake Beach, IL – A suspect is in custody after a man was fatally shot Sunday night in Round Lake Beach, according to police.
According to the Round Lake Beach Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, to the 1200 block of Sunnyside Court following reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound in the roadway. Personnel from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting. With assistance from the Illinois State Police, authorities located the suspect and took the individual into custody.
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available and is appropriate to share.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim and the suspect knew one another and that the shooting was an isolated incident. Based on the information currently available, investigators said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victim or the suspect, and no criminal charges have been announced.
