Seattle, Wash. – Bright sunshine is taking over the Emerald City this morning, and the comfortable start to the day won’t last. Sidewalks, rooftops, and city parks will steadily warm through the afternoon, marking the beginning of a multiday heat event that reaches its peak by Wednesday across much of the Puget Sound region.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. PDT Tuesday through 11 p.m. PDT Wednesday for Seattle, Everett, Bellevue, Tacoma, and much of King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Kitsap counties. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach 88 to 95 degrees, while nighttime lows remain in the lower to middle 60s, limiting overnight cooling.
Monday serves as the warmup, with partly sunny skies and a high near 81 degrees. Northwest winds of 5 to 7 mph develop this afternoon, offering only modest relief during the hottest part of the day.
The most significant heat arrives Tuesday, when Seattle climbs to 88 degrees, before reaching 90 degrees Wednesday under mostly sunny skies. While communities closest to Puget Sound will stay somewhat cooler, inland neighborhoods will experience the greatest heat stress.
If you’re traveling on Interstate 5, Interstate 90, or State Route 520, expect increasing pavement temperatures during the afternoon commute. Carry extra water, avoid leaving children or pets inside vehicles, and schedule outdoor work during the morning whenever possible.
Conditions remain dry through Wednesday before a slight chance of rain returns Thursday with highs easing to 86 degrees. No organized severe thunderstorms or tornado threat is expected across western Washington during this period.
Looking farther ahead, temperatures cool into the upper 70s by Friday, though long-range outlooks continue favoring above-normal warmth later next week across portions of the Pacific Northwest.
