Dallas, Texas – North Texas residents should prepare now for a surge of strong to severe storms by Friday night, with heavy rain and lightning likely to disrupt Easter weekend travel across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, storm chances will ramp up to 60–70% Friday night into Saturday, with the potential for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. The greatest coverage is expected across the DFW Metroplex, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Sherman, and Waco.

Rain could intensify quickly along major corridors like I-35, I-20, and U.S. 75, leading to ponding on roads and slower travel during peak weekend traffic. Cities such as Killeen, Cisco, and Paris may also see rounds of storms, with localized flooding possible in low-lying areas.

Storm activity will linger into Saturday night before gradually tapering. By Sunday, drier conditions return with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s, offering a calmer end to the holiday weekend.

Residents should monitor updates, charge devices ahead of storms, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Additional watches or warnings could be issued as the system develops later this week.
