Billings, Mont. – Drivers west of Billings could encounter snow-covered roads and reduced visibility starting today, with the heaviest accumulation expected in foothill communities through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, occasional snow will continue through Wednesday, with the most significant totals focused near the foothills west of the city, including Livingston, Big Timber, Harlowton, and Melville. These areas could see between 1 and 3 inches of snow, while Billings and surrounding plains are expected to receive lighter amounts.

Travel along I-90 from Billings to Livingston may become slick at times, especially overnight when temperatures drop and untreated roads refreeze. Visibility could also be reduced during bursts of snow, particularly in higher elevations and open stretches.

Residents should allow extra travel time, use headlights in low visibility, and watch for icy patches on bridges and overpasses. Outdoor plans may also be impacted as conditions shift throughout the day.

Snow will gradually taper off by Wednesday, but another dynamic system could bring additional impacts later this week. Travelers should stay alert for updated advisories.
