Peoria, Illinois – Easter Sunday travel across central Illinois and eastern Iowa is expected to remain smooth, with near-normal temperatures and only minimal rain briefly impacting early morning plans.
According to the National Weather Service, a stable weather pattern will hold across the Midwest through Wednesday night, keeping precipitation near to slightly below normal. Cities including Peoria, Springfield, Champaign, and the Quad Cities may see isolated light showers early Sunday between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., but widespread impacts are unlikely.
Major routes such as I-74, I-55, I-72, and I-80 are expected to remain mostly dry, with only brief wet pavement possible during passing showers. Visibility issues and flooding concerns are not expected.
In Davenport, Moline, and Rock Island, extended dry periods will dominate the day, supporting steady holiday travel and outdoor Easter events. Temperatures will stay close to seasonal averages, offering comfortable conditions for gatherings and egg hunts.
Communities across Bloomington-Normal and Decatur will also benefit from this quieter setup, with little risk of disruption to travel or utilities.
This calm pattern continues through midweek, and while a few weak systems may bring occasional light rain, no major advisories or travel impacts are expected.
