Springfield, Illinois – Easter Sunday travel across central Illinois is expected to remain smooth, with cooler but near-normal temperatures and very limited rain chances during peak holiday travel hours.
According to the National Weather Service, a stable pattern will dominate much of the Midwest through Wednesday night, keeping precipitation near to slightly below normal. Central Illinois, including Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington, and Decatur, is expected to stay largely dry, with only a slight chance of a brief shower early Sunday between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Major corridors including I-55, I-72, and I-74 should remain in good condition, with no widespread visibility or roadway concerns expected. Any isolated rain would be brief and unlikely to impact travel in a meaningful way.
Temperatures will trend close to seasonal averages, offering comfortable conditions for Easter gatherings, outdoor church services, and egg hunts. Morning hours may feel slightly cool, but afternoon conditions will support extended time outside.
Communities across Champaign and Jacksonville will also benefit from long dry stretches, reinforcing a favorable setup for holiday events.
This quiet pattern continues through midweek, with only occasional light rain chances returning and no major advisories expected at this time.
