Dodge City, KS Weather: Triple-Digit Heat Returns Early Next Week Across Southwest Kansas

Dodge City, Kansas – Summer heat is set to intensify across southwest Kansas next week as temperatures climb back toward the 100-degree mark, while dry weather dominates much of the region before small rain chances return late in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, highs will steadily warm through the first half of the week, with many communities expected to reach the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. The hottest temperatures are forecast Tuesday through Thursday, while rainfall chances remain minimal until next weekend.

Cities including Dodge City, Garden City, Hays, Liberal, Scott City, Larned, Pratt, Ulysses, Syracuse, Medicine Lodge and Elkhart are expected to see multiple afternoons in the upper 90s. Medicine Lodge and Liberal could top 100 degrees during the middle of the week, increasing the risk of heat-related illness for anyone working or spending extended time outdoors.

Most of southwest Kansas is expected to remain dry through Friday, with daily rain chances generally below 20 percent. Forecast models indicate a slightly better opportunity for scattered showers or thunderstorms by next weekend, though widespread rainfall is not expected at this time.

Residents should stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the afternoon and never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles. Farmers, ranchers and others working outdoors should schedule frequent breaks in the shade and monitor for signs of heat exhaustion.
