Portland, Maine – Holiday travelers and Easter morning plans could hit delays across Maine starting early Sunday as steady rain pushes inland while colder air keeps a rain-snow mix locked over northern مناطق.
According to the National Weather Service, multiple systems will track along the East Coast through Wednesday night, increasing precipitation chances above seasonal levels. Northern Maine, including Aroostook County and areas along Route 1 and I-95 north of Houlton, could see periods of wet snow, especially during overnight hours when temperatures dip near freezing.
Across southern and coastal Maine, including Portland, Augusta, and Bangor, rain will dominate, with pockets of heavier showers reducing visibility below one mile at times. Roads like I-295 and U.S. Route 202 may become slick during early morning travel windows, particularly on Easter Sunday between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m.
While major accumulation remains limited in populated southern المناطق, northern communities could see light slushy buildup on untreated roads. Travelers heading into New Hampshire or Vermont should prepare for changing conditions within short distances.
Despite the unsettled pattern, daytime temperatures will trend slightly above normal, helping limit widespread icing but keeping conditions damp for outdoor egg hunts.
Rain and mixed precipitation risks remain in place through midweek, and additional advisories may be issued as each system approaches.
