Ohio is already turning breezy and warm near Lake Erie, but conditions are about to shift quickly as storms build into the region. The wind is picking up, clouds are thickening, and roads could turn slick fast by midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into the evening. Some storms may become severe, with damaging wind gusts and large hail as the primary threats. A slight risk for severe weather is in place, along with the potential for localized flash flooding.

Across Cleveland, drivers along I-90, I-71, and the Shoreway should prepare for sudden downpours and reduced visibility during peak travel hours. Gusty winds could push vehicles, especially on exposed bridges near the lakefront. In Akron, Lorain, and Mentor, heavy rain may briefly overwhelm drainage systems, leading to ponding on roads.

Storm chances do not end today. Rain continues into Wednesday with near-steady showers and additional thunderstorms possible. Rivers and creeks across northeast Ohio and into northwest Pennsylvania may continue rising, with some approaching minor flood stage by midweek.

By Thursday and Friday, more rounds of showers develop, keeping the ground saturated and increasing flood concerns in low-lying areas. Temperatures fluctuate sharply, dropping into the 50s midweek before briefly warming again.

Plan for changing conditions each day. Avoid flooded roadways and allow extra travel time, especially during heavier rain bursts.
