Florida’s Atlantic coast is waking up warm and breezy, and along Miami Beach, waves are already churning with a growing rip current risk that could turn dangerous fast. Flags whip in steady onshore winds while early sunshine gives way to building clouds.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a rip current statement remains in effect through midweek, with persistent east winds around 15 mph and higher gusts increasing the risk along area beaches. Rain chances remain low early, around 20%, before climbing to 40% by Thursday as storms develop.

Across Miami-Dade County, today brings a mix of sun and passing clouds with highs near 78°F. Brief showers may pop up, but most areas stay dry through the afternoon. By Wednesday, temperatures rise near 79°F with a similar pattern, though humidity continues to build.

The shift arrives Thursday. Scattered thunderstorms develop by afternoon, bringing lightning, gusty winds, and quick downpours that can flood streets in minutes. Drivers along I-95 and the Dolphin Expressway should expect slick roads and sudden slowdowns.

Into Friday and the weekend, the pattern stays active. Daily storm chances linger, especially during the afternoon and early evening hours. While not constant, any storm could disrupt beach plans or travel with little warning.

Beachgoers should stay near lifeguards and avoid entering the water when red flags are posted. Rip currents can pull even experienced swimmers offshore quickly.
