Fort Worth, Texas – Bright sunshine is already heating sidewalks across North Texas, and the hottest stretch of weather is still ahead. The air feels increasingly heavy as temperatures climb toward dangerous levels, making outdoor plans more challenging through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, temperatures will steadily rise through the afternoon with a high near 95 degrees. Combined with humidity, heat index values could reach 101 degrees, making it feel significantly hotter than the thermometer suggests. South winds around 5 to 10 mph, with gusts near 20 mph, will provide only limited relief.

The warming trend accelerates over the next several days. Sunday’s high reaches 97 degrees, with the heat index climbing to 102 degrees. By Monday, the mercury is expected to top out near 101 degrees, followed by 104 degrees Tuesday as a strong upper-level ridge expands across much of Texas.

Meteorologists are also monitoring the broader pattern across the central United States, where widespread summer heat is expected to intensify. While Fort Worth remains dry through Tuesday, isolated monsoonal storms stay well west of Texas, and the more active storm track remains focused farther north and east. No organized severe weather is expected locally through the first half of the week, and tornado potential remains very low.

If you’re traveling along Interstates 20, 30, 35W or Loop 820, expect pavement temperatures to soar well above the air temperature during the afternoon. Keep extra water in your vehicle and avoid leaving children or pets inside parked cars, even briefly. Outdoor workers and anyone attending sporting events should take frequent breaks in the shade and stay hydrated.

Little cooling arrives after sunset, with nighttime lows remaining in the upper 70s. That prolonged warmth limits overnight recovery and increases heat stress over several consecutive days.

Long-range outlooks continue to favor above-normal temperatures into late next week, suggesting the persistent summer heat will remain the dominant weather story across North Texas.
