Fine particle pollution may reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups, including children, older adults and people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Even healthy individuals may notice irritation during prolonged outdoor activity.
The weather turns increasingly active this afternoon. The National Weather Service expects an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with some storms capable of producing heavy rainfall. South to southwest winds of 13 to 18 mph may gust to 30 mph, adding another challenge for anyone traveling or spending time outdoors. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, an isolated stronger thunderstorm with gusty winds and frequent lightning remains possible.
Motorists using Interstate 95, Interstate 195, Route 6 and Route 10 should watch for rapidly changing visibility and ponding water during heavier rain. Slow down on wet pavement and allow extra stopping distance. If thunder roars, move indoors until storms pass.

The Climate Prediction Center continues to favor above-normal temperatures across southern New England during the 6-to-10-day outlook, pointing toward a warmer pattern into late next week.
