Grand Forks, ND – Slick roads and light icing are already impacting travel across northern Minnesota early Tuesday, with hazardous conditions expected to linger through midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday. A mix of light snow and freezing rain is producing up to one inch of snow and ice accumulations reaching around 0.10 inches in some areas.

Communities including Bemidji, Roseau, Baudette, and Park Rapids are seeing slippery conditions develop on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. Even a light glaze of ice is enough to create dangerous driving, especially during the Tuesday morning commute.

Roads across Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, Hubbard, and Clearwater counties may remain slick into early afternoon, with reduced traction and occasional visibility drops in light snow.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and check Minnesota 511 for real-time updates before traveling.

Conditions should gradually improve after 1 p.m., but some icy patches may persist into the afternoon. Additional advisories could be issued if precipitation lingers longer than expected.
