Denver, Colo. – A prolonged stretch of hot, dry weather will continue across Colorado through the weekend and into Monday, with Denver expected to flirt with the 100-degree mark before a pattern change brings cooler temperatures and increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies will dominate through Monday as a weather system expected to bring cooler, wetter conditions arrives later than previously anticipated. That delay means the hottest temperatures of the stretch are now expected on Monday before relief arrives Tuesday.
Denver is forecast to reach 94 degrees Friday, 96 degrees Saturday, 99 degrees Sunday and 100 degrees Monday, with overnight lows remaining in the upper 60s. Sunday and Monday will bring the greatest risk for heat-related illness, especially during the afternoon when temperatures peak.
A slight chance of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms returns Monday, with rain chances increasing to around 50% Tuesday as scattered storms develop across the Front Range. Tuesday’s high is expected to fall back to 92 degrees, offering the first meaningful break from the intense heat.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day and never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles. Those planning outdoor recreation should also monitor for changing weather conditions early next week as thunderstorms become more widespread.
